== General ==
The classic decoder with 8 servo outputs with 2 positions each for <br>
Turnouts, branches, signals, barriers (with luffing), gates, fairground models with servo drive, etc. <br>
<br>
After activation, the servo is switched off. This avoids overloading and high power consumption. <br>
Unlike most competing products, the S8 does not shut down all the servos at the same time, but individually. <br>
This avoids a flutter of the servos due to small disturbances. <br>
<br>
Important is also the Power ON switch-lock. Most servos can stay turned off at power ON. <br>
This prevents uncontrolled movement when switching on. (Power dependent) <br>
Only with the actuation the desired position is approached. <br>

Normally, DCC does not care about the assignment of the digital connection. <br>
 For Motorola (Märklin) the decoder must be set to Motorola and the digital connection
 to be connected with the correct polarity at the bottom next to the 9-pole plug. <br>
 Märklin (brown and red).
 A reverse polarity leads to no damage, but also to no function. Therefore, using different protocols can help to turn around.

 The current is limited to 2 A For full load, a transformer of over 30 VA is required.
No power is consumed by the servo if the power off is activated. <br>

If no power off is used, make sure that the servos do not have to hold a large mechanical load. <br>
With a right mechanism, a lock can be achieved without load. <br>
Depending on the quality of the servo, there may be a humming or twitching. A servo that has left its position due to an interference pulse tries to correct this. Many servo overshoot and find the position no longer correct. <br>
This leads to glitches in the other servos. <br>
Therefore, the operating mode can only be used with good mechanics. <br>

==Format DCC or Motorola==
The servo decoders S8DCC / MOT can be converted to Motorola format (Märklin) using a solder bridge. <br>
This will replace the K87 decoder. <br>

==Software==
Für Neueinsteiger ist Windigopet zu empfehlen. Der Servodecoder die Servodecoder von DC-Car können ohne eine Digitalzentrale mit Windigipet am PC benutzt werden.<br>
<br>
Das Nachrüsten von bestehenden Anlagen mit DC-Car-Servodecoder ist auch kein Problem.<br>
In der Software wie [[Windigipet]], [[Traincontroller]], [[Railware]], [[ITrain]] usw. werden die Servo wie Weichen behandelt.<br>
Bei Austausch von Magnetartikeldecodern beachten: Der S8 braucht 8 aufeinander folgende Adressen.<br>
Wenn der [[S4DCC-MOT]] benutzt wird, ist das ersetzten eines K87 einfacher.<br>
Dann dürften keine Änderungen an der Software notwendig sein.<br>

==Sonderanwendung==
Wenn an einem Servodecoder noch Anschlüße übrig sind können die auch für andere Zwecke benutzt werden.<br>
Modelle mit 5 Volt Technik können für eine mit dem [[Programmer]] voreingestellt Zeit in Funktion gehen.<br>
z.B. eine Schalter/Sensor kann ein Objekt starten, das nach 10 Sekunden wieder aus geht.
* Antrieben z.B. Windräder, Wassermühlen, Kirmesmodelle mit Motorantrieb, Kräne mit Motor usw.
* DC-Car-Fahrzeugdecoder in Standmodellen Licht, Blinker, Blaulicht, können voreingestellt werden und auch das Stopsignal aussenden.
* Sound die [[Sound]]-[[Tiny]]s können durch eine Weichenadresse für eine kurze Zeit ausgelöst werden.<br>
* Sound die [[Sound]]-Prozessoren können durch 3 Weichenadresse für bis zu 7 Töne abspeilen.<br>
* wird ein 5 Volt Relais angeschlossen, können damit auch höher Spannungen geschaltet werden.
